PatchAmp PA-5032 to be installed in new mobile unit December 3, 2001 Hackensack, New Jersey Cablevision, a leader in cable television has decided to add a new mobile unit to its fleet of production vehicles. Knowing that mobile units are the best way to bring the action of a sporting event or the intensity of breaking news directly to viewers, Cablevision needed a new dependable vehicle. The Cablevision engineers also needed a versatile patching and distribution system for any digital upgrade in the future. As with any mobile unit there was consideration as to the amount of abuse to be taken by the equipment during transport. With its high density and solid frame design the PA-5032 was chosen to be the patching and distribution system. The PA-5032 was chosen because of its rugged modular frame and lightweight design. Also with reductions in power consumption causing less heat and built in modular cooling fans there was no question of over heating in a confined space. With a limited budget and reusable equipment leftover the truck will be integrated in an analog format but, there is possibility that this mobile unit may go digital in a few years. The PA-5032 was chosen for its ease in upgrading to digital by simply changing its modules and not the frame or the core wiring. With so many advances in all the areas of patching and distribution made by the PA-5032 there is no question in its worth to the television industry.
